GamePacks explained: what they are, how to load and configure them

What a Cronus Zen GamePack is, where the free library lives, how to program one to a slot, and how to configure MODs from the OLED or the GamePack Configuration Interface.

Quick answer

A GamePack is a free, pre-built set of MODs for one game, published inside Zen Studio by Collective Minds and community experts. You drag it to one of the eight memory slots, program the device, and switch each MOD on or off from the OLED menu in-game. Over 200 exist and Collective Minds says they stay free.

What exactly is a GamePack?

A GamePack is a compiled package containing several MODs for a single game, an OLED menu for adjusting them, and a set of instructions. Collective Minds builds them with a team of community experts and distributes them through Zen Studio. The product page counts more than 200 packs covering shooters, sports titles, fighting games and more.

Each MOD inside a pack is a discrete feature: rapid fire for a particular weapon class, an anti-recoil value, a button remap, an auto-sprint, a quick-scope timing. The pack author has already worked out the timing for that specific game; you choose which MODs to enable and tune the values.

Collective Minds draws a clear line in its documentation: GamePacks are MODs, meaning input automation, not hacks that alter game code. The line matters for what the device can and cannot do, but it does not decide whether a publisher allows it. Our policy guide covers that.

Where do I find GamePacks?

Inside Zen Studio, not on a public web page:

  • Zen Studio Live: the GamePacks list in the scripts area, searchable by game name.
  • Zen Studio Legacy: the Programmer panel, GamePacks tab.

Highlight a pack and click the (i) icon to open its instructions. Read them before programming; they list the in-game settings the pack expects, such as a specific sensitivity or button layout.

How do I load a GamePack, step by step?

  1. Update firmware. Packs are compiled for current firmware and will not run correctly on old builds.
  2. Connect the PROG port to your computer and open Zen Studio Live (or Legacy).
  3. Find the pack for your game and read its instructions via the (i) icon.
  4. Drag the pack to a slot. Slot 1 is selected by default on boot, which makes it a good home for the pack you use most.
  5. Configure if offered. Packs that support pre-configuration open the GamePack Configuration Interface, where you can set MOD values before programming. You can also leave defaults and adjust on the OLED later.
  6. Click Program Slots (Live) or Program Device (Legacy). Wait for the progress bar to finish and the Zen to reboot.
  7. Unplug PROG, connect to the console, and select the slot on the OLED with P1/P2.
  8. Apply the pack's in-game settings before judging whether a MOD works.

How do I change MODs in-game?

Every GamePack exposes an OLED menu. The exact button combination is printed in the pack instructions, but the pattern is consistent: hold a menu button on the controller to open the pack menu on the Zen's screen, move through MODs with the D-pad, change a value or toggle with a face button, and exit. Changes save to the slot immediately and survive power cycles.

The OLED menu guide walks through the interface with the common gestures.

What is the GamePack Configuration Interface?

The GCI is a Zen Studio screen that shows a pack's MODs as a form. It exists so you can set values with a keyboard and mouse instead of scrolling on a two-inch screen, and so you can save a configuration to reapply later. Not every pack supports it; those that do open it when you drag them to a slot in Legacy or through a configure button in Live. Our guide on cleaning up GamePack configuration covers resetting values to defaults.

Which GamePacks are the most used?

Collective Minds does not publish a ranked list, and we do not want to steer you toward any particular competitive advantage. The packs with the longest update histories are for major shooter and sports franchises, and the changelog notes when a pack is refreshed for a new season. Search the list for your game and check the pack's last-updated date in its instructions.

Can I edit a GamePack?

No. GamePacks are distributed compiled and are not editable. If you want behaviour a pack does not offer, write a GPC script; the GPC scripting 101 guide shows how, and the official GPC library contains community scripts that are open to read and modify.

Is it honest to call these MODs?

Collective Minds' terminology is accurate in a technical sense: a GamePack sends button and stick values; it does not read the game's memory. That said, several publishers define cheating by effect rather than mechanism, and both Epic and Activision name the Cronus Zen explicitly. A GamePack cannot be made undetectable by any setting, and we will not describe one as such. Use them in single-player and cooperative games freely; check the policy guide for anything competitive.

Frequently asked questions

Are GamePacks the same as scripts?
No. A GamePack is a curated bundle of MODs with a built-in OLED menu and instructions, maintained by Collective Minds and its community team. A script is a single GPC file you or someone else wrote. Both occupy a slot.
Do GamePacks cost money or need a subscription?
No. Collective Minds' FAQ states GamePacks and the GPC library will always be free. Anyone charging for access to official GamePacks is not affiliated with Collective Minds.
Why does Zen Studio say Failed to Retrieve GamePacks?
The official fix is network related: an ISP or firewall blocking Cloudflare DNS. Try disabling a firewall temporarily, switching network, or using a VPN.
Can a GamePack get me banned?
It depends on the game. Epic and Activision prohibit the device itself regardless of what is loaded. Other publishers apply general fair-play rules. Read the platform policies before using any MOD online.
